Fish Market

An authentic market where the day’s catch is sold and auctioned.
Fishing is deeply rooted in local culture, and a visit to the bustling Fish Market offers a tasty insight into everyday Emirati life.

With a huge array of fresh fish and seafood for sale, Ajman’s bustling Fish Market is popular with visitors and locals alike. Haggling with the friendly fishmongers is expected, and you can get your fish filleted, spiced and grilled on the spot at one of the simple stalls.

Follow your nose – and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Street – to the Al Rashidiya area near the creek. The market is open daily from 7am - 1:30pm, and 5pm - 10pm with a spirited auction each evening from 6pm.

Saleh Souq

Shop as the locals do in the Traditional Souq, an atmospheric Arabian market with a palm-frond roof, timber beams and coral stone floor.

Regarded as one of the best souqs in the region for traditional tailoring, the recently expanded and refurbished Saleh Souq is a charming mix of past and present.

The souq is part of a heritage path leading from the Corniche to Ajman Museum. You’ll find it on Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Street in the Nakheel neighbourhood, a busy commercial centre known for its traditional-styled buildings.

Shop for souvenirs and gifts such as clothing, textiles, pashminas and curios from around the region and wander among the warren of small shops. Haggling is the norm, and the area really comes to life in the evening, when the souq fills with locals, so be sure to stop by then.

Gold Souq

Collection of specialist stores selling all manner of dazzling gold jewelry.

From necklaces and bracelets to diamond rings and elaborate bridal pieces, the Gold Souq is a treasure of gold and silver jewelry.

A stone’s throw from the Traditional Souq, the modern Gold Souq is found on Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Street in the Nakheel neighborhood, a busy commercial centre known for its traditional-styled buildings.

Whether you’re looking to indulge in a spot of retail therapy or simply window-shopping, it’s handy to know that gold is sold by weight, based on international rates, but you can negotiate on the level of workmanship. You can choose from Arab, Indian or European designs, or commission a bespoke piece for a lasting memory of Ajman.

Al Zorah Nature Reserve

An unspoilt nature reserve within easy reach of the city Centre.

Al Zorah Nature Reserve with one million square meters of natural mangrove forest is a vibrant ecosystem made up of mangroves, turquoise lagoons and sandy beaches, which is home to nearly 60 species of bird including pink flamingo, egret and heron.

It is located to the north of the city and linked directly to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. With seven kilometers of waterfront, two kilometers of beach and a tidal creek, the nature reserve is made for waterborne activities. The best way to explore the mangroves is by kayak.

Al Zorah Golf Club

A world-class course with challenging holes set amid a stunning nature reserve.

Set among natural mangroves, Al Zorah Golf Club’s spectacular 18-hole course has a constantly changing tidal system that offers a unique golfing experience.

The Nicklaus Design course sits at the heart of the Al Zorah community, a new development to the north of the city. Golfers can tee off at the challenging par-72, which features generous fairways, strategically placed bunkers and two large lakes. The par-36, nine-hole course is more forgiving, making it ideal for those who are newer to the game.

Ajman Museum

With a fascinating collection of artefacts housed in a beautifully restored fort, Ajman Museum is one of the most visited historical attractions in the emirate.

Ajman Museum is the emirate’s foremost museum illustrating life as it once was. The 18th-century fort served as the ruler’s residence until 1970, before it was converted into a museum a decade later.

You’ll find the museum on the east side of the central square in the Al Bustan area. The museum opens from Saturday - Thursday (8:00am - 8:00pm), and on Friday (2:30 pm - 8:00 pm) and displays are annotated in both Arabic and English.

The exhibits offer a compelling glimpse of Ajman’s past, from centuries-old manuscripts and weaponry to models of wooden dhows and ingenious irrigation systems. One of the most notable displays is an excavated cemetery discovered in the Al Muwaihat area, which features pottery and funeral jewelry dating back as far as 3000 BC. A section is devoted to the pearl trade that once dominated the region, while the fort itself is a perfect example of traditional Emirati architecture.
